A2 TEXTILES. YAYYY.

Ok. So, I am so unbelievably sorry about not blogging for like EVER. I have been soo incredibly busy. Not only with college, like usual, but also with the whole university dilemma and what to do and stuff. Anyway.
Enough about stuff that you dont really care about.

FASHION YAY.

For my Textiles A2 course, my theme is patrotism and Im having so much fun exploring artists, designers and photographers that show their passion and love for their country through their work. Its inspiring. My aim is too capture their unique and individual techniques and aspects that make them so original and put this into practise.
Ill show you some of the work I do when Ive done it to be honest. Haaa.
Anyway.
Check out some of the photos that have kick started my inspiration.

Eclipse: Twilight Saga

Okay, so your probably sick to death of people going on and on about the film by now and hot gorgeous Taylor and Robert look (which they do) but thats not the reason Im posting about it.
Oh no. Im here to comment on the premiere outfits for the very dull and boring (in my opinion) Kirsten Stewart, whos fashion sense has always intrigued me..

As you can see from the four photos above, her style from one premiere venue to the next vary so much. From short pink cocktail dresses, to floor length navy blue ball gowns, her style changes almost gives me whiplash. Now, dont get me wrong, some of them suit her amazingly, like the top image, although that may also have something to do with her very good looking boyfriend smiling at her instead of her dress, but nonetheless, the colours suit her and so does the figure hugging style.
However, the pink dress at the bottom, not such a hit in my opinion. She tries to give the impression of a rock girl, rebellious young women who doesnt care that she gets to kiss two of the most talked about guys on a regular basis in a film that the whole world knows about, yet why does she choose the girly pink colour? Maybe to suggest a feminine side?
Hmmmm. Im not too sure..

Escada Campaign Autumn

I adore the setting of this shoot. Maybe I am slightly bias in that I love theatre, the effects, the costume and being a performer myself, I appreciate each of these soooo much. However, I think that the traditional red velvet seats which are almost iconic for theatres, combined with the iconic symbol of women and femaninity of the 'Little Black Dress', kinda adds a contemporary feel to the photo, yet the style of it and the rich and almost heavy looking fabric reminds us of the time era in which the photos are meant to be set.
The aim of the shoot was to show off Escadas new fall collection of day and evening wear, and by using Milla Jovoich as their model, who is basically just stunning, its not wonder that these clothes are portrayed amazingly.
I absouetly love the shot with the chairs. The rebellious symbol of being dramatic, not only fits the setting but also contradicts some of the more sophisicated and elegant garments within the collection.

A stunning photoshoot, with amazing clothes for a first class brand. Perfect.

Vogue China July 2010

Hey bloggers. Sorry I havent posted in sooo long, kinda been a hetic few weeks. But Im back :)

Anyway. The shoot above is a photoshoot for Vogue China that Georgia Jagger did. Now, Im not normally a fan of this young lady, and after seeing the photos from the Vogue Britain shoot she did a few months ago, this kinda re-emphasised it. However, it may be the incredibly well put together outfits she is modelling that suddenly changes my mind on this lady.
I adore the green tights and all the uses of unique high knee socks combined with the classic, almost Ralph Lauren kinda vibe that it has going on. It may be the model that pulls the clothes of amazingly well, because Im pretty sure that I wouldnt be able too, but I soo drawn to the aray of colours in this shoot.
Now, if only Vogue UK could come up with something as interesting..

Sam Edelman

So whilst browsing through Lookbook.nu, I hyped a photo that was absouletly stunning. Not only because of the person in it, but because of her gorgeous shoes.
Its slightly hard to miss, but Gladiator sandels are soooooo big, both last summer and this summer, but this more eccentric version of them are a stunning add to the classic shoes.
Below is the website address so you can browse through what I mean.

Elizabeth And James - Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen

Im not a huge 'Mary-Kate and Ashley Oslen' fan but I was kinda intrigued by their new fashion collection. With 'The Row' being a big hit over the last 3 years, and especially with Kristen Stewart (Twilight star) being snapped wearing one of their dresses, is it any wonder that this new range has been just as big a hit?
But in all fairness, minus the celebrity designers, and the more affordable prices (considering 'The Row' was silly prices for what it was), are the clothes and styles actually that good?

The collection was named after the twins' younger brother and sister, Elizabeth and Trent James, therefore allowing the two girls to create a collection for both males and females. It consists of alot alot alot of black and quite a few classic looks too. From blazers to bright prints, this collection does however, have a item that will suit any figure and any fashion style.

One of the main aims for the girls when designing this collection was to create a fashion brand that closed the gap between commerical styling and designer priced products, so that girls all over the world, no matter what their finanical situation is, can afford the clothes in this collection. However, with the prices still reasonably high, Im not sure whether the twins have acheived this. On the other hand, they also wanted to blend together classical and contemporary fashions and styles to show the electric lifestyle that they lead and maybe inspire others to lead the same type of life through their clothes.

Although, its not just comtemporary and classical fashion that they are trying to effortlessly blend together, it is also that of masculine and feminine styles and trends that they want to be merged together. This is shown through the juxtaposed luxurious and floatly fabrics with the tailored and suit like blazers and smart trousers.

A reasonably good collection, but one could question the reason it is being a hit with younger girls - too follow in the footsteps of two twins who once were famous?

Chanel Summer Collection 2010

Im gonna do this post slightly differently in that Im gonna comment each photo individually as each photo represents a unique style..

Right, lets start with this startling outfit. At first, I wasnt sure what to make of it. It was almost, too much to handle and almost to many colours and too much to look at and take in - however, on second glance, I seem to be capitavated by the complexity of the patterns yet the nautical colour scheme introduces a common and well known aspect into the outfit. Adore.

Ok. So I didnt have to have a second glance, I knew from the first look, it was love. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the long jacket, almost like the coats worn in American Gangstar films, all they need now is the gun. Slight tangent there, sorry. I loveee the lining too!! Stunning. And I want the models legs :)

Being the Twilight/New Moon/Vampire vs Werewolf fantic fan that I am (sad I know), but this kinda reminds me of that. The whole hidden identity thing.. but again. A common theme seems to run throughout this part of the collection in perticular - simplicity is key.
To sum up.
With Chanel as a key brand and creating many iconic styles and trends - and especially with high street brands and chain stores following in their footsteps and making these styles more accessible for younger adults and for the lower class citizens, is it any wonder that their inspirate is from Chanel?
