Julia Nobis - Russh June 2010

So, I was doing a bit of fashion blogging and looking for some magazine editorials, as you do when your like me.. And I came across this absouetly stunning photoshoot of Julia Nobis for Russh.
So the first photo kinda reminds me of 'More Dash for Cash', originally a Vogue article and monthly occurence in the magazine. However, Russh pulls off the look beautifully, only difference is, that it wasnt made out of random stuff.. Pretty none the less.
Fashion editor, Stevie Dance, highlights the gorgeous vintage style and pieces with a hint of modern flair through the use of electric lace, varying patterns and the use of leather too - this combined with the youthfully messy yet amazingly styled hairstyle..
The variety of the composure, editing, lighting and settings in every photo is not only completely different but also each as stunning as one another. I adore this shoot, this model, the stylist and the photographer.

Photoshoot.

So me and one of my darling friends decided it would be fun to do a rock/edgey kinda photoshoot thing.
Above is the result. And Id like to say, I can NOT take any credit for the editing of the photos, or the styling as she did it all.
Check out her blog too - shes a fashion genius.

Vogue USA June 2010

So normally Im not too impressed with Vogue USA (or UK) photoshoots - I normally find them slightly dull, unadventrous and almost, sometimes, very samey and similar as each other.
However, this one has changed my mind slightly.
Not only is is a ingenius idea that Karen Elson and Jack White (musician and model couple) have paired for the first time, but this shoot is simply stunning.
Ok. So I adore the vintage feel that the shots have contrasting against the modern and contemporary feel and trends that the styling and clothes give. Not only is the complexion of the models' STUNNING but the lighting in which they are situated just accentuates this even more. J'adore. The subtle yet fairly evident Marc Jacobs feel from the designer clothes combined with the vibrance of the sunlight is gorgeous.
I love it.

Miley Cyrus

Ok. So yet another post about yet another one of my obsessions - the stunning Miley Cyrus.
Yes, her good looks are down to her, BUT, her fashion sense and styling, well, I dont know if she can have all the credit.
The beautiful outfits in "I Cant Be Tamed", her new music video are out of this world (see the top picture), although I am unsure why they choose a bird, it is stunning none the less.
The varying tones within the feathers and the bold black statement dress just fits Miley's body shape and her complexion perfectly.
I saw her live a few months ago, confession yes, and probably not something I should admit too, but again, she was sensational, but I have to say, alot of the time I was captivated by the costumes.
None the less. Beautiful.

Gossip Girl

Ok, so with the season finale of Gossip Girl last night, I just wanted to take a few moments to appreciate the stunning wardrobe that the girls in perticular wear.
Eric Daman is a pure genius. And its evident, not only through interviews but through the wardrobe too that Serena's main inspiration is Kate Moss. With the short dresses, constant high heels, yet not too edgey kinda look that she has got going on, its perfection.
And my previous post has concentrated purely on Jenny (Taylor Momsen) and her on screen and off screen wardrobe.
You know you love me.
xoxo. ;)

Sarah Jessica Parker

Ok. So I dont really have much to say about this stunning women, except with the anticipated release of 'Sex and the City 2', she has been everywhere.. And I adore her.
Her funny, sweet personality (or so it seems), and her inpicible fashion sense just top her off.

Elle Brazil

Ok. So, some people have SLATED the photography in this shoot and by slating I mean, really had a go at it.
However, I beg to differ.
Yes, maybe the black and white theme with little editing on the contrast or brightness is a little dull and uninteresting, but isnt the point of editorials and ad campaigns, to advertise clothes at the end of the day? To promote models and new brands/styles etc?
This shoot is simple, yet effective. The model, stunning yet fairly natural. And the clothes, classy yet unique. With so much diversity, surely this makes up for the lack of imaginative photography?

Taylor Momsen

Ok. So above are some random photos that I found around the internet of Taylor Momsen. A style icon? Hmm. Maybe.
So although her style may be individual, rocky, edgey, is it almost too different and risky for some people to accept?
I think some times she look AWESOME. I love her confidence to be different and to be a new icon in fashion, however, there was one photo in perticular that caught my eye that made me doubt it.
The one with the suspenders. This is a total contrast to the good girl Jenny from Season 1 of Gossip Girl and even the new 'wild child' Jenny of season 3 - people may start to get the wrong opinion on her professionalism and her personality in general.
I love the indie punk rock theme running through her clothes but sometimes, less is more.

Kate Moss and British Style

I adore this image. The contrast between the girlie nature of Kate Moss and her styling combined with the iconic image of the guards dressed in full military wear - a pure symbol of Moss' love for her country.

I think that British fashion is one of the most diverse, under recongised types of fashion in the world. However, maybe Im bias because Im English myself.

But on the other hand, how come Kate Moss has made it so big in the modelling and fashion world, yet Britain gets no credit for it?

Obviously it has something to do with her drop dead gorgeous looks and amazing taste in clothes but surely her culture has something to do with it too.

Her down to earth upbringing off her mother being a barmaid and her father a travel agent, and with little interest in academic subjects, Kate was always said to have had 'a interest in fashion'. This is evidently shown when she became a fashion icon - startin the boho-chic trends and many of her styles in 2006 were influenced by the Rock N Roll era, which is still visible in many high street stores today (Topshop in perticular). Maybe it was this Rock N Roll era that brought some of her culture back to her and made her British again.

She has since then appeared in many campaigns for Britsh company, emphasising her patriotic views towards life in general.

She soon after that launched a collection for Topshop in 2007, which flew off the rails and is still going today.

To me, Kate Moss is not only a style icon, but a British icon too. Yes, she partied, yes, she did drugs and drank alot and yes, she may have had her fair share of eating disorders but that doesnt cover up the facts - because whatever way you want to look at it, shes a success. Whether you believe her culture and upbringing helped.. Topshop wouldnt have allowed anyone to have their own collection.

Taylor Swift

Okay. So for anyone who knows me, they will understand my obsession with Taylor Swift?
Why I hear you ask?
Well not only has she got one of the most unique, country-pop voices of our time but that does make her unique and stand out against other cliche pop artists. It also hasnt got anything to do with the fact that she writes all her own songs from her heart and her past experiences, and no, not to do with the fact that she dated the world's hottest up and coming star, Taylor Lautner, but these would all be valid reasons.
But yet, its her girlie yet very rocky fashion sense.
So she may not be Cheryl Cole, or Megan Fox, the obvious beautiful ladies that are around, but is their fashion sense really that individual? That unique? But yet, why does Taylor get overlooked?
Before you make your own mind up, just look at these and listen to my reasons..

So, yes, these photos show the obvious that many magazines have noticed it, and she looks gorgeous in the shoots. Her stylists is a genius.
I dont know how to describe her style. I guess it is kinda simple, but yet so effective and surprisingly rocky.
Ill post more soon.

Vanity Fair Italy

So one of the main reasons I started this blog in the first place was because I was inspired by one of my best friends who also has one. She often talks about magazine editorials and so therefore I thought I would take a page out of her book and commment on thsi beautiful shoot.

The images are from Vanity Fair Italy with model Erin Axtell looking stunning with styling from Ye Young Kim. With her stylists previous work including Vogue (all over the world) and Elle, is it any wonder than the models clothes are so on trend and compliment the setting, and editing of the photos so well? I dont think its a coincedence.

Everyone knows the floral prints and pastel colours are bang on trend at the moment, and within this shot, this is evident. The patterns and tones compliment the environment so well, and also contrast against the gorgeous supporting male models' bare chest.
Very natural, rural and stunning.
