Alice in Wonderland

With the release of the higly anticipated Alice in Wonderland film, yet another Tim Burton masterpiece, comes the just as anticipated fashion trends from it.
With Miss Selfridge releasing a collection based on the film, is it any wonder that people are going insane for the slightly weird yet fun trends?

I have to say, I didnt know what to expect from costume designer, Colleen Atwood after her previous work included Planet of the Apes, Chicago and Memoirs of Geisha to name just a few, but I was surprisingly happy with what I saw.
One piece in perticular caught my eye. You've probably guessed it, thats right, the Red Courtroom dress, also known as the 'Um Dress'.
Why?
Well, the bold red layered fabric obviously continues the theme from the Red Queen and her castle within the film, but outside the film, is a bold contrast against the very subtle black and white patterns. The cute, pretty heart patterns is also a huge contradtiction against the blood red shades.

I also adore the ruggared feel that the uneven edges have on the trains either side (almost like a wedding dress train!)! Very run down, showing the storyline through costumes too! Very cool.
And not only that, but it suits Mia so well! Her pale complexion against the vivid colours are just perfect - not usually a good match, but in this case, a exception can be made!

A brilliant film and brilliant costumes.
